Real-time
Reporting
Advantage

Through our web-based survey platform, every hoist during discharge or loading is digitally recorded in real time, including cargo type, quantities, damages and photographic evidence.

With our local presence on site and instant cloud-based reporting, stakeholders receive immediate access to reliable data throughout the process.

This combination of speed, transparency and documented evidence provides strong support for complex cargo claims and ensures that all parties know exactly what has been discharged or loaded at any moment.

INITIAL INSPECTION

Initial inspection upon hatch opening to assess the cargo's apparent condition.

2

MONITORING

Surveyors actively monitor the loading or discharge operation and record each hoist for accurate oversight.

3

CAPTURE DATA

Surveyors capture detailed digital tally data including quantities, observations, and photos.

4

REAL-TIME UPDATES

Real-time cloud updates are provided, so stakeholders can track operation progress and findings at any moment. In case of any discrepancy our tracking can reveal where this occurred.

Case study

When the Approved Lifting Plan No Longer Matched Reality

During the discharge of a 212 MT generator for a power plant from a heavy lift vessel, all preparations initially indicated a smooth and controlled operation. Certificates, maintenance records, and lifting equipment were verified and weather conditions were favourable.

The complexity emerged at connection: the actual lifting-point geometry did not match the approved lifting plan. This created a real risk that one grommet could slip during the lift, turning a prepared operation into an unsafe one.

Together with the vessel crew, and with surveyor approval, a modified lifting plan was prepared and sent for client approval. Even with the design office in another time zone on a Sunday, approval was obtained quickly.

Based on the revised plan, the generator was discharged in time and under insurance coverage. A potentially serious lifting incident on a high-value unit was prevented.

This case demonstrates what project cargo supervision is about: identifying critical deviations at the decisive moment, implementing corrective action, and protecting safety and commercial continuity.

Case study

Preventing Structural Damage by Stopping an Unsafe Lift

During the discharge of 35 MT shelters with steel framework, the lifting operation initially appeared manageable and lifting capacity looked sufficient.

The issue was structural: the shelters were designed for an 8-point lift, while operations were being prepared for 4 points because no adequate spreader was available on site.

Schad Expertise intervened before the lift started, stopped the operation, and required an adequate spreader so the cargo could be lifted on all 8 designated points as intended.

Once the proper spreader was arranged, the shelter was discharged safely and without damage. The intervention shifted focus from what was merely possible to what was structurally correct.

This case shows that true risk control in project cargo depends on understanding lifting design and stopping unsafe shortcuts before damage occurs.
